Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14 1988) is an American performer, actor as well as a dancer. Her early roles on Broadway include the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her role as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Annaleigh has worked on projects with award-winning directors as well as actors and producers for most of her professional career. Ashford is scheduled to be starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford currently works in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC in the form of it becomes a Hulu Original. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will return to Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the production. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the nation's crisis, which swept into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment trial in more than a century. She was the star of two seasons of CBS Comedy B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford has won Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Other Broadway credits for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a Denver resident who splits her time in Los Angeles.
