Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's family moved to Louisiana when she was nine. Decker then won a local talent competition for her version of "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart" performed by Patsy Montana. Decker relocated to Georgia at the age of fifteen. She wrote songs frequently as well as visiting Nashville in search of deals. A representative of the independently-owned label Big Yellow Dog Records heard her when she was 17 and began selling her music to other labels. Decker was just 17 when she was able to catch the attention of an official from Big Yellow Dog Records. They began shopping her songs to labels and artists. Jessie James released her debut album in August of 2009. It was a self-titled album. Jessie James achieved a reasonable amount of popularity in the form of Wanted making it to in the Top 40 charts. Decker was a country singer who believed herself to be a country musician in the past, was surprised that her album was not promoted or made with an eye on the mass market. After two more singles from the album stiffed Decker confronted label management for more control of her music. the next track Boys in the Summer was an album that was more country-oriented. The second album of Decker, dubbed in the form of Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records, was pulled because Mercury was disappointed by the performance of three of Decker's singles on country radio charts.
